.25-06

I am always curious how ballistic data can be generated, or interpreted to give
the .270Win less bullet drop for a heavier wider bullet, than the .25-06 Rem,
when they have almost identical case capacity.  Hmmm.  There are some new laws
of physics at play here

I am in love with my Tikka Whitetail Hunter Deluxe, in SS Laminate, chambered in .25-06 Rem.
Both my .270Win, and my wife, are jealous!  Actually my .270Win was so upset, she
went to live with my brother.

Back to the original question, I don't think one could go wrong with either
choice, Howa or Tikka, accuracy wise.  My only complaint on the Tikka T3 is
they closed off the top of the action, so loading, or hand case removal, is
kind of tight.  But this is getting very picky.  I won a Howa 1500 in .300 WSM,
and have been very happy with this gun once I adjusted the trigger.  I probably
would not have purchased a Howa before winning this one, but now that I have one,
I will consider them when making some future  rifle purchases.

Sqeeze -

Let me add to the confusion.

The SAAMI pressures, per Speer #12, as as follows:

.26-06  53,000 CUP
.270     52,000 CUP

Similar case capacity but the .25-06 shoots lighter bullets AND has a higher working pressure, yet doesn't get to show it in the velocity column?

From Remington - I don't see that the 25-06 gives up anything for the similar weight bullets.

If you are wanting a Weatherby Vangaurd in .25-06, according to the new Weatherby catalog, they don't exist. They are now chambering the Vangaurd for the .257 Wby Mag.
