Price on a 45 Colt??
« on: May 01, 2012, 04:20:40 PM »
I was messin' around the pawn shop and asked the guy behind the counter about what was in the rack.  He said there was a 45 Colt Handi mixed in with the Pardner shotguns.  I did not think about it much then, but I have been thinking about getting it and reaming it to 460 S&W.

So my question is, what is a good price on a used 45 Colt Handi?  I haven't seen one on the classifieds in a while.

Last one I saw for sale was at Cabela's and had a $395.00 tag on it.  They did wind up moving it, just not to me. ;)   I figure 2 is enough for me. 8)   DP

I bought a 45 Classic Carbine in 2010 from CDNN.  I believe it was $229.

So for a pawn gun (used) I should be able to get it a little cheaper, ya think?

Supply and demand, if there is any market around your area, the price will be higher, like it is here in Montana where I am.  If no demand around you, you should be able to get it for some less.  Like I said, the one at Cabela's was 395.00 and they only wanted to deal 25 off.  DP

I was presuming the gun was new coming from Cabela's.  That is pretty high for a used Handi!

The Colt Carbine retailed for the same price as the 45-70 BC when they were available, in the neighborhood of $350-$400, those sold by CDNN for $229 were closeouts, it hasn't been made since 2008.

Quite a nice little gun isn't it?  Carries light in the hand.  Hugh straight walled cartridge.  Throws giant chunks of lead down range.  Easy on the shoulder.  It all just feels good.  So price is equivalent to scarcity and interest in the purchaser.  There you go changing it to something else.  I'll keep mine in 45 Colt Classic thank you.

The one I saw on the rack at Cabelas was a used gun.  Couple of small nicks on the butt stock but the rest looked very good.  DP

Well went by and looked at it today.  It is a NEW Classic Carbine.  I cant really see buying it and reaming it, that would seem sacreligious! It was a beautiful gun.  I had hoped it was an older model Handi.  Then I wouldn't have minded reaming to 460 S&W and it  would have probably been cheaper to boot!

I think I paid $199.95 for mine plus shipping...  :-\   Can't remember exactly... Tim would remember being a young feller and all.  He's the one who turned me on to them on sale anyway!   ;D

If you are thinking of one, not sure you will find one that cheap again.  The close outs were one hell of a bargain, but as Tim sid, they quit making them in 08 and most are hanging on to theirs.  DP
