Fred M MIA????
« on: May 01, 2012, 10:44:13 AM »
I just noticed Fred hasn't been online since February, hopefully he's just been enjoying the Arizona sunshine for the winter and will be back when he gets back home.  :-\

I am sure you are correct Tim!

I know there are long periods of time between his posts. But I haven't checked to see if he has logged to just read up...

He usually logs in during those long periods of no posts, but not this time, has me concerned, he's no spring chicken and has had some health issues in the last year, although he did go south again, he usually lets me know when he heads back north which was last month normally.  :(

Well, well I am sorry to delay. Did not know I was missed. With somany new members there is not much to add. On the 243 I gave up on that one long time ago. Never had a Handi in that caliber but had lots of custom bolt guns in various 6mm's. The only one I still got is a 6PPC in a bench rest rifle, which I never shoot any more. I tried to sell it a few times but nobody wants to pay the price so it just sits in the vault. Some day I take a few rifles to the auction mart since my vault is getting to grouted. At present I am waiting for Ron Smith to finish my new 257Wby on a Ruger#1 action. The man like me is getting old and slow.
H&R under Remington is still producing a lot of faulty guns, nothing has changed about that. You think they get their act straightened out by now.

Like I  said I had only one 6mm left a 6PPC,  but I have another one a 6x47 Handi. but that one hardly gets used anymore either since I got that 17 rimfire in a Winchester 85 Low Wall. So that shows that I don,t know what in the vault half the time.
I love that 17 rim fire it sure beats handloading these small center fire cases. Not many Handi's around in stores I would like to buy a 30-30 and turn it into an Ackley. Sofar I have not found one. I think a 30-30Alckley Imp is a fine caliber and easy to load.
Thank you all for the friendly replys.
