Been Watching for MONTHS...Where Are the Rossi M92's in 357?

I have been trying to track down a Rossi M92 in 357 mag with the 20 inch round barrel for the past six months.  Everyone I have spoken to has no idea and only guesses as to what the problem is.  I have tried to call Rossi several times and gave up after being on hold for my entire lunch. 

I realize that there are other ways to get one used or you can pay a couple hundred over retail on guns america, but I just wonder why I cannot just have my dealer order one, or why doesn't Buds have them?  This is strange to me. 

Anyone have any idea as to what the holdup in production is at Braztech?

I just was on hold for another ten minutes again.  They repeat the song, "America" over and over.

One of them is at my house. I've had it perhaps 2-3 years.

I might be wrong but I think one reason the rifles are in such short supply is all those silly chopped off pretend handguns they are making from them. Every time I go in the gun store I see a dozen or more of them on the shelf but from talking to the staff there they sure don't sell many of them. The rifles on the other hand go pretty fast.

I have wanted one a long time and finally can justify the purchase as I have sold several others to get one, and now the painful wait  . 

There was one with the Puma head at the last gun show I went to, he wanted a new price for it and it was really beat up and had some rust.  I did get a Stevens Favorite in good condition for $75 so I feel I did pretty good. 

If someone has one for sale, please PM me, I will make a decent offer. 

If anyone has any word on why production seems to have completely stopped for the past six months I would like to know when they are going to be back on the shelves again.

Oh, they sell, all right - all bling does -  but they pale, pretty fast.
 
FWIW, when I attended the Concord NH gunshow last Sat, there were four (4) different guys, walking the aisles, trying to peddle/trade their Mare's Laig for ANYTHING - but the dealers weren't biting, as far as I could see.

    I was at a gunshow a couple of months ago, and there were four of these silly chopped off mare's legs sitting on a table.  A man in his mid-60s came upon them, and seemed really excited by them.  He kept picking one up and handling it.  I was standing next to him.
 
    He said,  "Man, these are really great!"
 
   I said, "Yea, for what?"
 
   "Well,"  he said,  "its just like the Old West!"
 
   "These were never used in the Old West," I replied.  "The only place these were ever used was in 1950s television shows, and they were dreamed up by some prop man on the back lot.   You have to distinguish  reality from television fantasy."
 
   He gave me a sad glum look, realized I was right, and moved along.  I guess I ruined his day.  I definitely ruined the day of the man behind the table.

Hey, reality bites and too many people these days seem to have a hard time biting it back by pulling their heads out of their... well... openenig their eyes, FREEING THEIR MINDS, adapting and overcoming.
 
But it also bites when you know you've unintentionally "gut punched" someone.
 
On a related note, I have an old Rossi 92 16" in 357 w/ the cheesy little bronze medallion and no safety. Love it, would never, ever, ever part with it. Good luck to the searchers.

I would not buy one, but Baskin Robbins has 31 flavors for a reason.  I have a picture somewhere of a cut down 73 from the old days, so you aren't exactly right.  There were some real creative smittys from way back too.  A Volcanic is similar and many old winnies were made into pistols.  So now you learned something too.    ;-)

    Yea, I agree.  I have absolutely no doubt  that a few people back then cut their rifles down to this idiotic arrangement, just like people in modern times do similar stupid things.  But to me, it doesn't make it an icon of the Old West, anymore than one of these newly made Mare's Legs makes it an icon of the 21st Century.

If their 2012 catalog is any indicator, the B92 has been dropped and replaced by the R92 El Jefe` version of the 92.  I have yet to see one in stock anywhere.  8(  Kinda stinks as I'd been hoping for a B92 in Full Octagon 24" for a while.  8(  See page 6 & 7 for the El Jefe`

Hey, aren't there a couple of 'custom' gunsmiths or shops that will either slickup your M92 (or clone) or sell you one they ahve worked.  I'm trying to think of the name of one of these places, starts with a P something.  Also a place called Steve's Guns (maybe, maybe). 
And look, if you can't find one of what you want, you can always get one of those horses legs in 357 and send it out for a re-stock and re-barrel, and not to forget a full length mag tube.  As long as you have the basic action you can do anything with it.  HTH.

Smoothing out mine was just a matter of taking a fine gentle file and cleaning up some of the rougher contact surfaces. I was a youngster when I did mine and knew nothing about "levers". Taking it apart was easy. But MANN!!! Getting that thing back together w/ no references or the appropriate tools was a f..(whoa )   well, let's just say... fun.
