Considering these 2 as my next deer rifle. Is the quality comparable? Both have floated barrels. The Kimber is also pillar bedded. Thanks for you feedback!

They Kimber will have prettier wood and lighter weight------BUT---If I were faced with this choice---I'd go Sako evey time.

I own Sakos and can tell you that I am very pleased with them. I have ordered a Kimber 8400 Montana (stainless synthetic), but I have not received it yet. As such, I can't give you a super accurate response.

I would imagine that the Kimber won't have, generally speaking, the same accuracy as the Sako because, in part, the Kimber is lighter, which is generally not conducive to accuracy.

However, it all depends on your hunting. Do you need, or do you really want, a lighter rifle. If yes, then get the Kimber. If you don't mind the standard average weight, then get the Sako.

Or get the Sako in the Finnlite. My buddy has one in 300 wsm and it is very nice.

The ONLY thing I don't like about the Finnlight is that it only has a 20" barrel, while the Kimber, at least in WSM actions, has a full 24" barrel. If the Finnlight had a 24" barrel, then I probably get it over the Kimber - MAYBE..

I know my Kimber .22 mag (I know, maybe an Apple to your Orange) is very accurate--about 3/4 MOA. I'm going to order the new Montana in .308. I've never owned a Sako, though. I'm just impressed with Kimber's workmanship..

The Flinnlights in Magnum cartridges has 22" barrels, but in standard actions only has 20" barrels.
