Sako 75 Hunter w/ woodstock vs A-Bolt SS
« on: January 26, 2004, 02:37:59 PM »
I'm a southpaw and torn between an Abolt stainless stalker and Sako 75 Hunter(only maple available for us lefties). I want a quality all weather gun. Will the Sako's maple stock handle wet weather w/o warping? Is it glass bedded? I know the Abolt SS can handle the weather but know it can not compare to the Sako in quality. Thanks for your feedback!

Speaking for the Sako - EXCELLENT weapon.  Accoring to Sako - the wood is treated to resist warpage.  Barrel is free floated but not glass bedded as I recall.  1" groups are required of ALL Sako refiles before they ship.  Even though I sell them, I love them & shoot them.  Simply, one of the best.

I have 2 Sako rifles, both in wood.  One of my son's shoots one as does one of my best  buddies.  If I bought another rifle it would be Sako or Weatherby.  To me it is worth the price for a very good rifle.  Never had any problems with weather etc....they just plain shoot.

Very tough call.  As much as I like Sakos, I believe I would go with the synthetic ABolt and not feel I've left anything on the table.  I think your final decision should ride on how each of them fit and feel.
