Hey MS,

IÂ’m barely making it here in La. Maybe with in the next year or two IÂ’ll be able to move back to GodÂ’s country. ItÂ’s good to see you here at GB as well. My GB attendance has been a bit up and down through January.

About the 70 action: IÂ’m thinking about having a Rifle Smith (John Ricks) that JJHACK recommended to me build a 375 HH and have him give it the DG treatment. The calibre I decide to go with may change before itÂ’s all said and done. The 375 would be a bit more practical I would think. Mainly, I just want a high quality rifle in a big bore that I can afford. The only thing slowing me up is finding a 7mm STW action at a good price. IÂ’m willing to take ideas too. Gotta runÂ…

This way when I make it to Africa IÂ’ll have something to carry with me.

I have a Super Redhawk in 454 and it's pretty mild to shoot even double action. Had heard all kinds of stories about recoil but the loads i was shooting 31gr H110 behind 300gr speer gold dot bullets were not alot differant than the hot hot loads i used to load for my 44mag in the same type of gun.
As soon as i can i will be working up loads for cast bullets with gas checks, will get a mould from Mountain Moulds with the soft nose so i can use lino for the base and soft lead for the nose. I will use those for hunting and a straight lino for target.

No need really MS Hitman other than the need to add toys to my stash to feed my addiction. I'm always looking for something new and different. My 475 is my favorite gun. I seem to carry this thing around above all others. There's just something about lobbing 410gr slugs down range that gets the blood flowing. Only buying what I need would make things awful dull. Hopefully if things go as planned I'll get a chance at an Elk this year, lord willing.

What is on everyones want list of guns to buy?

I've got an Encore in 209x.50, and while it might not quite meet up to the standards of Zeus's .22lr, I must qualify it as a big bore. I shoot them 435 gr. Buffalo bullets to 1400 fps with 2 50 gr. pyrodex pellets...........purdy mean load......even if it is lil league compared to Zeus's .22 lr elephant gun. Zeus......yer such a barbarian with that thang....give us lil leaguers a chance.

I have Contenders up to 45/70, Encores up to 376 Steyr and Freedom Arms up to 454. Just small stuff compared to your Big Boys Toys.

Shot it for the first time Wednesday. It was grouping well as could be expected with the cold temp. I have a Burris 3x9 on it. When zeroed about 4" high at 100 yards impact was dead on at 200. That was with 65gr. BL-C2 and 270 gr Hornady RN. Hunting load will be 260 Ballistic Tips or 225 FN. Had to quit shooting because of cold hands and couldn't hold onto gun. There isn't as much recoil as my 12" Contender 45/70 Hunter bbl. The Steyr is a Virgin Valley heavy bull w/brake. Hope to try it out on some Texas hogs in April.

:cb2: Always wanted a FA .475, but I don't know what I'd shoot with it down here in my neck of the woods. Most anything round here will fall dead when shot by a .44 mag. Thought about getting the FA83 in .44 mag., but I just can't see spending that much money on another .44. When ya spend that much cash, it needs to be able to topple elephants. Oh well . . . gotta spend it on something.

Not a Magnum, but something throwing a .692
Dia. Ball doesn't have to be!!!

Bad thing is, NO RIFLING!
(It's a smoothbore and shoots like one, can't hit a barn at 50 meters)
It sure spits the fire and brimstone though!

15 inch plus brake SSK 376 Steyr for the Encore along with a few other barrels and a few 44 Mags for some wheel gun fun......................

I have a 375JDJ & a 35-06JDJ. I'm pushing a Nosler 225 BT @ 2300FPS out of a 13 inch Encore barrel in the 35-06JDJ. The brake on the 35-06 JDJ really makes it fun to shoot. Hope this pic works of JD Jones 50 Alaskan. Dennis that works for JD brought it to a silhouette match back in 2000. The ammo was a 647 gr API @ 1600 FPS. That's a 45-70 next to the 50 Alaskan!!!

Semi auto .50AE. 325gr bullet at 1325fps out of 6" bbl!

Shoots into one ragged hole, wrist rest at 25yds.

Also glad to see Hornady making some 300 grainers in .411 [for the .405 Win.] I bought some flat nose and semi-spitzers to reload.

Beware... if you buy a FA 475 you may never shoot your 44s again. There is plenty to shoot with a 475. You can load anywhere from 850fps-1400fps and never sacrifice accuracy in the process. With a good hardcast bullet you can shoot anything from rabbits to elephant. It's my personal favorite. You cannot see it that well but my avatar is a 6" 475. This is the one gun I would never sell.

14" SSK Contender in .50-70. 750-grain FMJs at nearly 1200 fps. Recoil in this very light handgun ( the barrel is so thin it looks like a shotgun barrel and is too thin for a scope mount ) is quite impressive - and I thought my .45-70 tube was brutal....this one bends the grip screw and the screw holding the Pach forend on the barrel. :twisted:
