RG brand "Wagonmaster"
« on: March 17, 2012, 04:27:17 PM »
I saw a nice little .22 lever action today.  It was marked RG and "Wagonmaster."  RG is a German company that imported a lot of guns in the 60s and 70s, mainly cheap revolvers.  This appeared to be a copy of the Browning lever action .22lr, but had an alloy revciever.  Anyone have any experaince with these little guns?  Any value?

YMMV, but as far as I'm concerned, "RG" = "Reject German" (aka: German reject), something I would have NOTHING to do with - even for "free".

I bought a RG revolver about 1960 or so. It shot 22shorts. Used I paid $8.00 for it. It was 5 gal. Bucket accurate at 20 ft.  :o later I sold it for what I paid for it and bought a colt frontier scout in 22 lr

All I can say for the RG is it did fire every time I pulled the trigger.

I have an RG 14 that rides in my tackle box loaded with snake shot.  it's been shooting for 50 years.

Keep looking for more markings.  Hopefully you will likely find some reference to Erma Werke.  As far as I know, Erma made the only production .22 lever action in Germany.  Ithaca labeled Ermas were offered here for a few years in the early 1970's.  They were solid guns.  The current Henry .22 is the Erma design produced on new machinery.

Erma also made them for Iver Johnson and those were called the Wgonmaster. They made them in 22Lr and 22 magnum and also made a pump action model. the current Henry lever action 22's are the same design as the Erma. i've had them all with Erma markings, Iver johson markings and Ithaca markings and the Henry rifles. They are the same design and very accurate. I'd set up 22 mag cases at 25 yards and shoot them off the table top.
