At $650.00, that is bald faced rip off... It isn't worth half that much!

Sounds about right to me.  They are very popular and not easy to find.

I'd much rather have a USSG 94, Savage 24 or a Remy/Bakail 94.   Real guns that be had for less cost rther than a grape stake.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

None are very reliable, and they are much heavier than the M6.

I always wanted one.  Kick myself now for not picking one up before Springfield stopped making them.  I'd never give $650 for one though.   :o

i remember them back when they came out. seems like i remember that the trigger was not a good deal and accuracy was poor. $650 does seem quite a bit more than they would be worth.

The huge uprise in survival reality shows has driven the price up.  They are built to milspec.

Our opinions vary (as usual).

Have never used/shot a Remy/Bakail, just know of them.   But I have the other two, enough to have an experienced opinion about them.   A hunting buddy had a USSG, and I've owned three of the Savage 24's, all in different configurations (22LR/410, 22MAG/20 & 222/20).   No unreliability issues ever with any of them, including the 24-V I used the most out of mine.   Trouble free service all the time every time is NOT unreliability.

The weight?   Since when has a 6-7 1/2# long arm been considered  heavy, especially an O/U?    Less on average than your Remington's.

I'll go the extra 1-2.5#'s for a more traditional rifle myself, you can have the lighter abortion.  ;)

The trigger is a squeeze affair that uses 3-4 fingers depending on hand size. As for other combo guns I doubt they are as tuff or easy to store , may be better hunters but not the choice for in a boat, plane , backpack or behind/under the seat of a truck/jeep.
The price is good for an original. It a gun targeted for a spefic need and if you need it the price is secondary.

if i wanted it for a acutal survival rifle then i better be able to shoot squirrels with it.with the 22 barrel. do sum research, if it wont hit a silver dollar at 25 yrds it will prob starve yu to death unless yu got plenty of 410 shells.

I've got one of the old ones without the triggerguard and with a parked finish in 22 Hornet/410. The rear sight slides to either side in a groove and because of it the Hornet isn't very accurate. 410 on the other hand is a joy to shoot. The ones in the add are kind of pricey; although, since they aren't made any more they will probably bring even higher prices in the future.
