Uh-oh!  I just received a Remington "take-off" stock that I purchased on e-Bay.  It is marked "Long Action Standard".  Will this work for my 15-year-old 7mm Remington Magnum barreled action?  If so, can it just be dropped in, or will it require the removal of some of the stock material?

Thank you,

Although I pathetically forgot to mention this, but most of you probably have already guessed, the barreled action is a Model 700 ADL.  I bought the gun while in college (on over a year's layaway), and hope to keep it a lifetime!

Thanks,

I think I would put this question on the Gunsmith forum.  You may get some responses.

I believe your answer is no. The long action standard makes me think it means for rounds like the .30-06 or .270 Win. as opposed to the magnum rounds which I believer have a bit heavier contour barrel. The barrel channel can be opened most likely but can you do that or will you need someone else to is the question.
