Range time with the 44 Mag.
« on: January 28, 2012, 01:49:05 PM »
Went to the range today as the temps were in the 30's. Nice and sunny and no wind.  ;D   Shot the orange target below with the same load as the white target below, which was shot last summer. Both shot at 100 yards. Just trying to see if it would be consistent with the seasons. Looks like it like it could be a thumper next fall. I wouldn't hesitate to use it for elk in the timber.

355 grain bullet at moderate velocity should be adequate.

Looks good! I shoot a 335gr cast bullet in my 45LC and it is a solid thumper. That 355gr bullet should do nearly as well in a 44 Mag. ;D

Thanks, Dinny

I'm still looking for acceptably accurate cast bullet load in my Classic Carbine. I have some Beartooth 345 grainers that are showing promise.

I did get 300 XTP Mag.'s to shoot decently at 100 yards. At least I think it's okay.
