Looking for 35 Remington and 357 Herrett barrels
« on: January 28, 2012, 09:39:06 AM »
I have called H&R customer service and was told I could no longer get a 35 Remington barrel for my SB2 frame. Does anyone know different so I can ask the question the "correct way" to get them to say 'YES'.  Also, does anyone have any information on a 357 Herrett chambered for a H&R.
Thanks

PM Brian56 and ask if he's got the .35 Remington.  In the past, Illion had barrels when Madison (CS) said they had none.  Give it a shot.  I can't help you with the Herrett.

WELCOME Klahtax!!
There was a post here recently where Brian said there WAS 35 Rem barrels in stock... Brian56 is a regular here and works at Remington. Its widely know here that H&R CS is clueless and regularly gives out erroneous information....

I am in a quandary too... I have not found a complete 35Rem rifle and do not really want to send in a receiver.... BUT I do WANT a 35 Rem barrel... I may have to simply do it, tomorrow will decide it for me...
If anyone knows of a complete 35 Rem rifle, Please post up its where abouts and contact info!!  PLEASE!!

DO NOT TRUST H&R/REMINGTON CUSTOMER SERVICE when asking about H&R rifles!  PM Brian56, he will give you the real answer. If you don't mind, please post up what you get for a  answer for all to know.

You will have to buy a 357 mag and have it reamed to a Herrett. I will probably do this in the next year or so, because I had a Herrett in an original contender and liked it, and 30/30 brass is copious while 357 Max is not. If a trapper 357 barrel comes  up for sale I would love to get my hands on that, just for that reason.  Meanwhile, I am looking for a 357 ejector barrel which I will send to trotterlg to have reamed and maybe cut to 16.5". That, with a synthetic youth stock set will make the ultimate "shorty" as far as I am concerned.

Late last year I had the same experience...."no .35 barrels'. Sent the recieve & and money order in anyway and TA DUH......a few weeks later UPS is delivering my .35 rem rifle. Sometimes you have to just have to have a little faith.

I just had SSK ream a 357 max out to 358JDJ...  It was already an 18" barrel when I bought it.  It's an absolutely great little shorty.  Might be another option for ya if you didn't want to worry about all the brass prep.  I was gonna have mine turned into a herrett, but decided to go with the 358JDJ instead...since I teaded all of my herrett stuff off for the max barrel.
