I have a Buffalo Classic with Skinner sights. I wrestled with the factory peep, then went to a Williams target knob with the factory globe, then finally to the Skinner. The problem with the factory globe is that even with the Shaver inserts, the front sight is still black in color and shaded by the hood. It just didn't work for me last year. Passed on deer because sight picture too fuzzy
This year, the brass post of the Skinner front sight showed up very well through Skinners Black Gold rear sight, regardless of lighting. From bright sun to evening shade, I could see those sights clearly even with my 64 year old eyes.
Couldn't find a buck until late in the season. He came through the woods below me moving fast with some does. He and his girlfriends finally stopped about 60 yards away. At my shot, I saw a massive grapevine explode. (Later inspection proved my bullet had hit the fine.) The deer scattered. One doe stayed with the buck and they stopped again at about 100 yards. I took my time and lined up the sights on his left shoulder. Wow, did he ever drop dead in his tracks. I was using Remington green box.
Bad news is that when I got down to him, he had been ruined by an earlier shot. The wound had festered and turned black; bones were sticking out.
My point is, if you ain't got a 45/70, get one.
