model 28 to 29
« on: January 19, 2004, 03:38:41 PM »
I was wondering ---again  Anyway,I have a  357 S&W model 28 and would like to convert it to 44mag. Anyone have any knowledge about the price of 44 barrel and cylinder and the gunsmithing cost to install them.
? Or am I better off just buying a model 29?--Willy

.........You would be MUCH better off just trading for a mod 29.......the cost of the parts, gunsmith fitting and then rebluing would be more than you could buy a good mod 29 and the conversion would be worth less than a standard mod 29.....imo/e......good luck and good shooting!!

Bigdaddy :  Keep the mod. 28 and buy you a good used model 29 and you will have the BEST of both worlds, leaving the 28 as is will give you one of the finest 357s money can buy. :D    JIM

I concur totally.  These guys read my mind.  Keep the 28 and buy a 29..  costs would easily outway the cost of a nice used 29..
