Hi All,
Anyone know where there's some info on the various Model 24's that were manufactured? The 30-30 over 12 gauge strikes me as interesting. Was thinking long term I'd like to pick one up, or similar. Would like to research what exists, so I know what I'm looking for.

I have one in the 30-30/12 ga with the synthetic stock!
Pretty handy combination, although some say weight is a little much. I don`t find it to be much of a problem as I am almost 6 foot and about 200lbs. Also has variable chokes to exchange for the 12 gauge!

There were lots of .222 over 20 gauge, and a bunch of 22lr over .410. I have a 30-30 over 20 gauge and the later ones ?? over the 12 gauge. I think in rifle cals there were only 22lr, .222 and 30-30, could have been a .223 in the later modles. Mine is my most used rifle, it doesn't do anything best, but it does most everything. Larry

.357/20 and, I believe, .22 Hornet/20, .22 magnum/20, .22 magnum/.410, .223/20, .223/12

I had a V model 30-30 over 20 ga. I loaded a 180 gr cast bullet to full 30-30 velocities and used it for Deers. I had a 130 gr jacketed bullet that was for varmints, and a 120 gr cast loaded down to 22 velocities. I tinkered until all the bullets shot to the same sight setting, didn't have to change the scope when I changed ammo.

My first gun was a Savage V-24 in .22RF over .410.

I now own two, one is .223 over 20ga. wood stock. The other is .308 over 12ga. synthetic stock.

I had a 24Camper. Cute little gun that came with a case to hold it when broken down. I didn't keep it because I couldn't hit anything with that short light weight shotgun barrel.

Please share your loads, I would like to have all loads shooting like that.

Did you use the same scope setting for your shotgun barrel?

I had a 1-4 power Redfield. If I remember I never shot very many birds with it which is why I don't have it any more. I just hardly ever hunt where I have a chance to shoot birds and mammals at the same time. Even if both seasons are open, one look at the habitat and you know whether to take a shotgun or rifle when you walk away from the vehicle.

I read an article today that the 24C (camper) is the most collectible of all the 24's. I am looking at a 24J. It has what appears to be a chrome receiver. The asking price is $350.00 and it is mint. I thought the price was high, but looking on Gunbroker the price seems right. Any help on this? I had one 50 years ago (.410/.22 RF) and lost it trying to cross a creek. It was a Christmas present from my dad. He told me the next gun I owned, I would buy it myself.

$350 is a really good price for the condition you described. At a gunshow I've seen them go for $450, and then there is tax on top of that. When you buy at Gunbroker you have shipping and dealer fees on top of the selling price.

I recently picked up a 22Hornet/12ga, it came with a synthetic stock in a leaf camo pattern, the 12 has the accu-choke which I happen to have from my winchester.

I got mine for predator hunting mainly! Predator hangs up out of shotgun range then let loose with the rifle barrel, also shotgun is nice for spooked predator that happens to come up on your backside!

This was in a LGS, so no shipping but do have to pay sales tax. This store always gives you a box of shells with each gun. Wonder, if they will give me 2 boxes since it is 2 different calibers?

.308 over 12 ga. *that* sounds like the ticket, if not the 30-30 version. I could see some advantage to a rimmed rifle cartridge in one of these. (Headspace on the rim instead of the shoulder). But either would be great.

I had one but swapped it because the barrels weren't regulated very well. I think I swapped it for my .30-30/20. I believe that it is the rarest as I have never seen another one.

however I am selling a 12/308 unless I trade it for a 12/22HP first I'm still thinking the trade over

I love it and the gun is really accurate.I use the hornady TAP 110gr rounds.Got a small boar this year with it at about 125 yds--nailed him right behind the left shoulder

Sorry it's a savage 2400 with leopold see thru rings and a simmons pro hunter3.5-10x50 A/O scope and last sunday evening I watched 3 does walk across a pond ( about 125 yds from my tree stand)--waited for the buck until darkness fell (no luck darn it!!!!!)

Tough luck on the deer hunt!
When you use the 12 gauge do you have a detachable scope or do you actually use the scope with the 12 ga barrel?

I have been a 24 fan for a long time. Have any of you been watching the prices? Last week I saw a 223/12 go for $900. People are beginning to look at these rifles seriously. My 30-30 with open sights is extremly accurate.
