HELP HELP HELP Marlin 336 - Tried to laod a too long round---its now stuck!!

   I shoot BP Cartridge rifles.  I just received a Marlin 336 that was re chambered for 38-55.  Its is 'like new' in that its been shor ONLY 4 times and was then stored away for many many years.
 
The barrel and chamber were done by a professional in AR, the rifle was set up for 38-55 and Starline brass BUT.......I did a stupid thing. 
 
I slid one of my hand loaded rounds that go into my single shot 38-55  into the loading gate and then attempted to lever it into the chamber.  WRONG!!!  Its a tad bit too long and I should have known this as my hand loads are longer than factory rounds.  My bad--my stupid.
 
NOW WHAT!?!?!? .  I can call a gunsmith tomorrow but I just wondered is there a quick fix to remove the round myself.  The lever WILL NOT move either way and I can clearly see that the very tip of the cast lead is sort of stuck.

if the round is still in the mag tube you should be able to remove the magazine plug,spring and follower and get it out the forward end of the tube.

Take the screw that the lever pivots on out. Then you can pull the lever out, then the bolt will come out. Things will be loose then and you should be able to wiggle your bullet out. Don't let the ejector get away from you when you pull the bolt out, it is retained by the bolt and will be loose as the bolt is removed.  Been there done that.

I third the motion to pull the screw the lever pivots on.  That's what I like about the Marlin - it's simple to take apart.  Not that many parts and the only one to be leery of losing is the ejector.

THANK YOU.  I'll get the round out now.  It was VERY stupid of me.  It occurred to me about a millisecond after I had stuck the longer round in.......whooops!  My 38-55 single shot rounds are long in comparison to std 38-55's due to my longer chamber in the W&R Target Classic.  Something I obviously forgot.  Thanks you for your assistance.  Jim Terrio.

On a Marlin I agree that pulling the lever and bolt is likely the best and easiest way to remedy the situation but not so on Winchester patent guns.

I stuck a too long Bruin factory round in my Rossi M92 my last shooting session with it. What I did and it really wasn't all that difficult just a bit tedious was to back it out the way it went in.

I pushed the round down and back into the mag tube then while holding it forward pushed in on the loading gate until I had the base of case in front of the loading gate as it would be when loading it. I then just pushed it right back out of the rifle. I assume the same should work on a Marlin as well and if ya aren't comfortable with taking it apart it is a way to do it without taking the rifle apart tho really with the Marlin that is so easy it is likely how I'd do it with the Marlin. Everything I've read on the Winchester M92 rifles says it's really not a job to do at home so I've not attempted to pull my M92s apart.

With a Marlin take down is simple ya just gotta make sure you get the ejector back where it belongs which isn't that much of a problem.

Been there done it also, not stupid just happens. After you pull the bolt if things are still a littel tight remove the mag spring and follower it might loosen things up a littel more.
