Excaliber Question; Vortex or Exomax?
« on: January 01, 2012, 06:49:02 PM »
Is there a big differance in on game performance  with the extra 20FPS advantage of the Exomax? I was able to shoot the Vortex last week, and it was extremely accurate!! I am really interested in buying the Vortex (330 FPS) or am I better off spending the extra money and getting the Exomax (350FPS). The majority of my hunting will be Whitetail Deer. Thanks for any help!!

I have the Exocet.  Really like it and doubt I will change xbows for years to come.  But you might do well to do a search on the net for Excalibur crossbows.  They have a section on choosing the right xbow.  Unlike firearms magnumitius is not prevalent in xbows.  The higher the poundage of your xbow the faster you will have string/serving wear.  After shooting vertical bows for 30 years I find that the biggest problem with xbows.  You go from getting thousands of shots out of a string to getting a couple hundred shots.

All Escaliburs are accurate and you will love the Vortex.  But velocity would not be of concern to me.
