after market adjustable sights for current 617?
« on: December 30, 2011, 09:51:04 AM »
Does anyone make adjustable iron sights for the current 617s?                                                                 According to S&W Customer Service, they only make the flat black sights. With my 60+ eyes I really could use the white outline/ white front sights[or a LARGE bead fiber optic front sight]. "If push comes to shove",I'll use painter's tape and white paint. Also wish there was a 10 round speedloader for the 617[load the speedloaders indoors, fire 50-100rds outdoors]
Thanks.

I just had a HiViz sight installed on my 617.  Going to pick it up tomorrow.

I bought some 10 round speed loaders and a Pelican case with a 60 round loading block from here

Old post, but to bring it back to top...

Check out the "Rough Country S&W" sights offered by Bowen Custom Arms.  They are not cheap, but are TOP Quality.

I just got a 617 recently and added their shallow "V" rear sight, and then added a gold (bright brass) bead top-dead-center in the front blade.  Works really well for me.

Tight groups,

Your dead on about Bowen Custom Arms. He rebored the cylinder of my S&W .32 H&R Magnum to take the .327 Federal rounds. Great, clean job and the cost was very fair. I love that sight you got from him. Top quality.

Happy New Year, and tight groups to all!

In case anyone was wondering, here is the sight picture for the Bowen Classic Arms "Shallow Vee" rear sight that I added to my Model 617.  I really like this sight setup for plinking and hunting and it works pretty well on targets too.  For my eyes, it works almost like a peep sight, with the front gold bead lining itself up easily/quickly in the shallow vee.  All of my Rugers are done, and all my S&W revolvers are soon-to-be setup this same way...

And here's a close-up of the gold (polished brass) bead that I added to the stock 617 partridge sight.

Tight groups!
