New Light 7mm-08, Thanks Brian!! IT SHOOTS!!!
« on: December 30, 2011, 03:30:50 AM »
First I want to Thank Brian56.  The frame was mailed to H&R on Dec 14th and the completed rifle was back home yesterday, Dec 29.  Not only was it fast, the finished rifle is superb, including a very sweet trigger.  You have to remember, this was done smack over top of the Christmas holiday.  Thank you Brian and Happy New Year to you and your co-workers at H&R.

This rifle has a 7mm-08 twenty inch light barrel, Burris Medium Zee rings, and, at least for now, a 4x32 Bushnell Banner wide angle, circle X.  I may put more glass on it later for my distance shooting. This morning this little beauty will be bore sighted and zeroed.  Range report will follow.  If it is anything like Patty's light 7mm-08, she'll be another tack driver.

Well Boys and Girls, I bore sighted it, grabbed a big box so I could see if the first shot went wide.  It did.  4 inches.  16 clicks left rudder and the puppy has a sore nose.  Two shots to Zero.  I gotta love it.  I know this rifle is going to group tight.  It's too nasty just now to try.  The load is Patty's 115 gr. Speer HP 43.0 gr. Varget, 3019 fps.

Gotta Love that 7-08, it's just plain fun to shoot with those lighter bullets.

You said a mouthful Tim.  Illion's so good, I think Madison has to quick time to try and keep up.  I don't hang out in CVA or Rossi Land, so I can't really say, but I doubt any competitor can match H&R's recent strides in service.  It's just fantastic.  I believe Brian56 and his co-workers really do take pride in their work as well as the finished product.....Something you don't see much of anymore.

Pete,
That rifle looks great! I bet it will shoot just as well, if not better, when it has a rim. ;)

Thanks, Dinny
