Cut the face of the chamber back and shim the underlug pivot, see barrel fitting in the FAQs. A method I've thought of, but haven't tried is to make a "washer" of shim stock the diameter of the rim cut and silver solder it in place.

There was a thread from last year, IIRC, were someone posted about installing a washer and I think it had some detail about the method.  I think the thread dealt with a 45-70 BC and a deep rim cut.

That was 26-t, he used glue which failed. Since pondenck's is considerably deeper, wire may work, maybe even just silver solder, then use the reamer to cut it again.

"Twas a method used back in the day to fix shotguns, usually single barrel, that had developed a headspace problem.  Make a "washer" to fit in the rim groove, silver solder in place, then recut the rim groove.  A lot easier than it sounds.  Goatwhiskers
