« on: December 23, 2011, 02:19:06 AM »
may need to get a 6 inch barrel to use a Glock 20 SF 10mm for hunting.  Where would you suggest I go to buy one?  Thanks in advance.

Hello Flintlock,
I have been looking into aftermarket barrels for my Clock 20SF which I just recently aquired.
From everything I've researched Bar-Sto is what I'm going to go with. I'll admit there are good reviews on all the barrel makers, Lone Wolf, KKM, Bar-Sto and probably some others.

All I can tell you is do a little research, pay your money and keep your fingers crossed.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

I have one, but I'm not willing to part with it.  You can find them on gunbroker if you search for...  6" 10mm glock barrel

I just ordered the Bar-Sto barrel from MidwayUSA and used the promotion code that's advertised here at GBO and saved $15. Midway also carries Storm Lake and Lone Wolf barrels, you might want to check with them. The promotion code is good till the end of this month.

I've owned and used Bar-Sto barrels for almost 30 years.  I did business with Bar-Sto way back in the days when they were located in Twenty-Nine Palms, CA.  At different times I've owned as many of seven of them all at once.

Recently I took receipt on what is going to be my very last Bar-Sto Precision barrel.  Because of some sort of factory backlog I had to wait almost four and a half months for this barrel to arrive.  It is the dullest and least finish-polished Bar-Sto barrel I have ever owned.  It is, also, the only Bar-Sto barrel I've ever received that had (light) scratches on it in several different places.  The thing I really hated is that - in what I suspect to be a production shortcut - the muzzle is reverse crowned.  A reverse crown is the:  easiest, fastest, and cheapest way to crown a muzzle.

Needless to say I am really pissed with Bar-Sto Precision.  After I finish-polished the barrel and removed the scratches I sent Bar-Sto a detailed three page letter stating my dissatisfaction.  I've yet to hear from anyone at Bar-Sto by way of reply!  What I told the Stone family is that, 'for the money' I didn't get a very good deal.  For 1/3 the cost I could have purchased a high quality Lone Wolf Distributors foreign-made, 'match grade' barrel.

For approximately 1/2 the price I could have purchased another high quality aftermarket Glock barrel from Storm Lake.  Both would have arrived within 30-45 days; AND I wouldn't have had to do anything other than (maybe?) some quick work with a set of diamond knife sharpening stones (or a Dremel Tool if you're very good!) to install them into the pistol.  Neither would either of these other barrels have come with a cheap looking reverse-crowned muzzle!

There are many other well-made aftermarket pistol barrels out there.  If I went looking again tomorrow, I'd look at:  an un:marked and un:etched LWD barrel (probably one with muzzle ports), Storm Lake, KKK, and Jarvis.  The last thing I told Irv Stone is that, since moving to Sturgis, SD his guys seem to be spending too much time at the, 'Full Throttle Saloon'.  I was being facetious, of course; but, after several weeks without receiving any sort of courtesy or reply to my initial complaints, I'm no longer so sure.

I used to recommend Bar-Sto Precision barrels to everyone who read my posts; however, those days are now over for me.  I'm very disappointed with my new Bar-Sto barrel; and, understandably, I feel less than well-treated by the Stone family.  I could have waited far less than nearly 4 1/2 months; I could have paid a whole lot less than I did, too; and I would have received an, 'equal or better' aftermarket pistol barrel than the one Bar-Sto finally sent me.

I've had a couple of the lone wolf glock 20 barrels.    I've been pretty impressed with the long wolf barrels and their quite a bit cheaper than some of the other aftermarket barrels.

Well I got the Bar-Sto barrel from MidwayUSA. The barrel looks great and I had to do a little stoning to fit it to my slide. The lockup has absolutely no play.
I just got back in the house from shooting it and all I can say is WOW, I didn't think a Glock could be that accurate. I had some different loads to try in it and everything shot better than the factory Glock barrel. I have also installed a set of Dawson Precision adjustable sights on my 20sf.
One load I shot over the chronograph averaged 1232 fps with the 200 grain Hornady XTP and the five shot group at 33 yards, measured 1.375".
I don't like my Bar-Sto barrel, I love it!
