Negative on aftermarket barrels, the Tracker II has an SB1 frame, H&R may fit 357 and 44 mag barrels to it, but those are the only rifle barrels they'd consider. The 22 Hornet has been used on SB1 frames, but be aware of the problems associated with primer piercing due to the large firing pin.  You might find a second hand Versa-Pack 22Lr barrel to fit to your frame, but it's a discontinued model. The only other option is having a barrel stubbed, see the FAQs for that. You're better off just starting with an SB2 rifle frame for rifle barrels tho.

Keep your eye out, the 22LR Sportster is a good little rifle and you can find them pretty cheap. If you want a real performer look at the 17 RFs too; everybody who has them seems to like them.

You could, :) but you'd have to purchase one first. ::)

I thought the versapak has a different frame than an SB1 or SB2?  But the versapak barrel will work on a SB1 or SB2?

I have a versa barrel that works on two different recievers one an sb1 and the other an sb2, And it is without a doubt the most accurate .22 I ever shot

BB,

It's been my contention that the VP frame is basically a SB1 (strength receiver), there have been differing opinions of course, so it's up to you to determine if you agree with my contention or not.

H&R1871 (as per Brian, quick, and of course H&R) will not fit any type barrel to the VP frame.  Dimensionally all four frames, SB1, SB2, modern Huntsman, and VP are the same.  The difference is in the strength of the frames, and metal type.  As you know the SB2 frames are steel and treated to withstand the higher pressures generated by rifle calibers.  The SB1 and modern Huntsman frames are basically the same, and are only safe with shotgun & pistol caliber barrels.  The major disagreement is whether the VP frame is essentially a SB1 strength receiver.

However, all do agree that the VP 22 barrel, as well as the VP 410 barrel will fit SB1 and SB2 frames safely.

Don't bother asking Brian about the strength issue, he is a H&R employee, and we do not wish to endanger his job, by asking him a question that he cannot answer.  He has to follow company policy.

Merry Christmas to all!
