Wadcutters in a 92?
« on: November 24, 2011, 05:56:10 AM »
Still waiting to pay off and pick up my 92.  Just wondering about if it will feed wadcutters.  It's understood that each rifle will feed what it likes and they are not all the same, but I'm wondering if anybody has had luck getting flat wadcutters to feed through one.

My 1894 will feed wc in 38 brass but can only load 2. I load them in 357 brass crimped to top groove and the will feed a whole tube. I hear the 92's are a bit less picky.

Mine is a little fininky about semi wadcutters. You have to chamber them slow.

My M92 16" Stainless eats wadcutters all day in .357 mag....more finicky with .38 brass.  It actually flips the .38's out of the top before it chambers them if I rack the lever with a lot of authority.  No problemo for me...I use mostly .357 anyway and never had a hiccup yet.

My home-spun gunsmithing job using Nate Kiowa Jones DVD (stevesgunz.com) and his metal follower made 'er a race horse.

I have had more than one M92 in 44mag.    All have fed any bullet shape without a hiccup.    Never had a problem with feeding.

     Wadcutters in a lever gun ?  Not SWC's ?

If you get wadcutters to feed , go buy a lottery ticket !

These guns were designed to feed RNL or RNFP .

Anything else is just gravy .  Some do , some do not .  Some are OAL length sensitive , some are not .
