Republican Debate tonight
« on: November 12, 2011, 03:58:50 PM »
Well there is no danger of Ron Paul winning tonight's debate.

I watched the first hour of the 90 minute show then my local station left it for a rerun of NCIS. During the first hour Ron Paul was asked a total of two questions. That was less than any of the rest. I'm guessing here but I'd not be surprise if Perry and Romney got 80% of the time with Newt likely in third place.

One thing I noticed about both Perry and Romney was they just didn't want to respond to the questions asked but rather wanted to address something else. Perrry was very inconsiderate of the time and just refused to stop when his time was up even when they told him over and over his time was up.

Some of those guys are down right scary. I'm really not sure some of them would be an improvement over what we have now. That's a sad commentary on the state of our nation.

Your correct, GB.  Too much "establishment" mentality.  That's what got us where we are.  We MUST have someone who will shake the place up in DC, in order to return us to what we should be, could be, and once were.

If TPTB didn't think Paul was a real threat to the status quo, he'd be up there with Perry and Romney. That tells me what TPTB think of perry and Romney - no threat. That's a ringing progressive endorsement of them to my way of thinking. I wouldn't say I missed the debate.

The media will push whoever they believe obama can beat. The other night when Perry choked on a statement it was RP who was next to him and suggested something but when the media told the story they said it was romney. I've never in my life seen a candidate so ignored and disrespected as they are doing to RP. POWDERMAN.  :o :o

Absolutely right.
And Ron Paul is the only Presidential 'contender' who would shake up DC.

  Powderman is correct;
While I had an appointment and didn't see the debate, I have seen some recorded parts..
CBS is obviously corrupt..they were rude in their questioning, cut people off and aimed questions trying to discredit the conservative candidates.
Ron Paul and Michelle Bachman were both treated shabbily.  Michelle Bachman has documented PROOF that CBS planned it that way..   In an hour-long debate, Ron Paul had just 90 seconds participation and Bachman perhaps even less.
CBS should lose any credibility they have left...

BTW:  Newt showed a powerful mind and a foreign affairs knowledge way beyond most politicians..

I watched the debate and thought that Ron Paul did a very nice job of shooting himself out of the saddle.  He doesn't believe in defending this country in any effective way from terrorists.

As far as I am concerned no one would be better than the stooge we have running this country at present.  And I mean that literally; we'd be better off with no one as president.  Conversely, we'd be far, far better off with the least of those on that stage last night.

I was okay with Romney, Newt, Perry, Santorum and especially with Michele Bachmann.  Cain didn't hurt himself either, but he still wouldn't make my short list.

As I have said several times before, I'm *not 'joined-at-the-hip' with any of the candidates.  I think that helps at this stage of the game, for one to be much more circumspect when observing a debate.  I was disappointed to hear Ron Paul join with Obama and Holder in the mantra over waterboarding.  Some may not agree, but I would rather see one terrorist waterboarded than to see 500 or 1,000 Americans die because we didn't get the required information..

Newt is the smartest one on stage.  perry and romney spend too much time on each other.

Ron Paul has only one message "audit the Fed"  he's unsure about anything else a prez needs to know.

Being the "smartest" of the group doesn't seem to be a particular best reccomendation looking at past presidents. It just meant that they can influence the masses to support programs, or at least not fight congress, in doing things that were not good for the country.

It seams we need a president with some good practical common sence that will acomplish at least a minimum of good for the country and move in a posative dirrection in even one or two programs. Anyrhing will do, just make posative movement in some area that matters.

Sad thing is, it is impossible to eleminate the obvious idiots because of the media.

What alarmed me more then anything was the candidates that were willing to bomb Iran either generally or specific sites. I only saw the first 60 minutes since my TV program didn't go for the whole debate.

Newt Gingrich voted in favor of the famous "Gun Free School Zones Act". I can't imagine getting excited to vote for someone with that on their record.

I'm not overwhelmed with that either, comparing that with a whole potful of really worrisome items, that one is small potatoes IMO.

I wouldn't call a 2nd Amendment violation small potatoes but that's just me. Newt's already proven by his voting record that the  2nd means nothing to him. I know there are many other big issues but I simply refuse to vote for someone with that on his record.

It surprises me that fellow gun owners would even consider voting for Newt, a guy who thinks "gun free school zones" is a good idea.

What you are noticing is a very common phenomena with RINO's.  They will make a statement as if it is a proven truth when there's no proof (he is smart), but when their opponent comes to the table with real proof (he supported gun control), they will either minimize it, make them jump through multiple hoops to prove their case or even say something really off the wall, like "Gun Control?  That's small potatoes!"  ;)

I'm not really picking a fight with anyone here; were all grasping at straws now. Admit it. One year out and the GOP has too many weak options. It's like the whole debt ceiling fiasco, tough talk a few months back, compromise, and here shortly the dire consequences so ominously threatened will just go ahead and take effect because the whole lot of them couldn't produce a pair of testicles between them. Not getting my hopes up ... 4 more years of O will just get us there faster, and well see it coming. A RINO win will get us there more slowly, but just as surely, and with less of a heads up.

Yes there is one candidate running for President that I'm reasonably sure doesn't have a pair (at least a pair of what TN said) and I'll vote for her (Michele Bachmann) without reservation.

I'm not sure there is a human being alive who would satisfy some of you, but my god, you have to consider what we are talking about replacing.  The obamunist and his outrageous destructive regime has to go--whatever it takes.  And the Dumycrat Party (communists) has to be obliterated.

My reason calling the gun free school zone small potatoes is that your Supremes just recently affirmed the 2nd. You have several States that made CCW legal or easier to implement. In contrast, there are other things that are on much shakier ground.
BTW I like Congresswoman Bachmann, her ratings around 4% now I believe, are not encouraging.
