Limited Capacity Glock 20 magazine?
« on: November 04, 2011, 05:38:20 AM »
I used to own a Glock 20 and I'm looking to get one again.  I'd like to use it for deer or other hunting in NE but the magazine capacity would have to be limited to 5.  (The law says semi-auto firearms used cannot hold more than 6 rounds)

Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes and sells these?  If not, I was thinking about cutting the spring on a perfectly good magazine and carving a balsa wood block to fill the bottom.

Thanks!

Your home brew modification sounds good. I think 10 round glock magazines are available for states with 10 round laws, but never seen or heard of a 5 rounder. AR and AK rifles-yes, Pistols- no.

I would not cut anything...
You should be within the law as long as the magazine would need to be completely disassembled to remove your limiter.

The spring is just shy of the inside diameter of the mag. You could wittle up a piece to go inside the spring without cutting it. May get failure to feed if you mess with the tension much. They need a really strong spring to feed right.

Thanks for the replies, glad you made me think twice about cutting the spring.

I know here in Maine we have the same 6 round in a semi rule but it's null and void here for handguns aka can carry a glock 20 with a full 16 in it if you want. Check the fine print of the law. If it stilll pertains to a handgun take a wooden dowel or a rectangular piece of wood and put it inside of the spring to limit the shots that way the mag doesn't get screwed up and you still retain the factory spring tension.
