Topper scope mounting
« on: November 01, 2011, 02:38:20 PM »
I am looking around now for a Topper 30-30, 058, 158 etc. Are these all drilled and tapped for a scope or no?

Gentlemen, for your viewing pleasure: Two different 158 Topper 30/30s using the same scope & mount. Weaver K-3 with Weaver rings mount.

It says Weaver 60 on the package, but on the mount itself, near the front grove is stamped 60A.

The hole spacing is identicle, the difference is the radius of the older receiver. Its smaller than current barrels. You could "bed" a current base to fit if your handy.
Old bases are harder to come by.

1.5-5x24. Simmons whitetail classic. On 1.5, I'd say its pushin 4". 5x is about 3" I guess.

Found a new mount tonight at bass pro. Can't remember the number but it sure fits better.

It appears that model has been discontinued. It is not listed on the Simmons website, and a Google search returned zero retail results. It is too bad, that sounds like exactly what I want. I cant believe how difficult it has become to find an affordable 1-?x20 scope these days.

If you are ever in the market for a fixed 1X20, however, I am quite happy with the Cabela's house brand one (for the money).

Oh well, thanks for the info.
