Stubbing?

I have a read several post about "stubbing " a Handi but don't really under stand what is being talked about. Could someone enlighten me?

Take the chamber end of a handi barrel and cut it off just in front of the underlug.  Then drill and thread the inside of "stub" to accept the male threaded end of the barrel of your choice.  Similiar idea to how a barrel is threaded to the receiver of a bolt action gun.  You can also do it this way with a press/interference fit w/o threads.

The purpose is to get a better barrel? Maybe like a bull barrel or something?

In the picture thread I saw one that had a silver looking barrel attached to a chamber. I guess that was done in that situation?

Is there a benefit?

Custom, quality barrels and chamberings that aren't possible with just a simple rechamber, an example being Doug Humbarger's 375 JDJ.  ;)
