I've used one as a go to rifle since the 70s. I hunt the Canadian bush and have had luck with big animals. The 444 with the 265 Hornady FN is a deadly hunting rifle capable of anything.
It is really something with deer. It hits real hard but doesn't destroy meat unless a big bone is hit. I must admit I think the 444 is the perfect hunting rifle, mine carries a peep sight.
