got a new crossbow yesterday. wicked ridge evaluation.
« on: October 16, 2011, 06:49:10 AM »
i had a barnett revolution which to me was a total pos. It never shot any better then about 4 inch at 25 yards and was constantly wearing out strings to the point the broke which was caused i believe by the release sear. It also had a terrible trigger pull and the cocking crank was a pos design that had to be removed everytime you went to shoot or it was right in your face. I just put another string on it and shot it maybe ten times and the string started fraying agian. i got so POed that i threw it in the truck and brought it to my nephews and gave it to him. I got looking for a new one that wouldnt break the bank and saw alot of good reviews on the wicked ridge bows made by 10point. I bought one off ebay for a good price and just brought it out to sight it in. This is a nice bow for the money. Its as fast as the revolution and much quieter and has a great trigger pull. There suppose to be sighted in from the factory and amazingingly i shot it at 25 and 50 yards and it was dead nuts on. I didnt even need to make a click on the cheap redot at 50 yards That flat amazed me! and shot a 3 inch 3 arrow group at that range that was smaller then my barnett would do at 20! . That flat amazed me! It has a built in rope cocker in the butstock that works great. Alot less hastle then a crank and totaly out of the way. Only one downside to it is the crank was handy for decocking and theres no way with this one other then shooting it. Overall to say im pleased is a big understatement. This thing has twice the quality of my barnett for the same price. Now ive got to go kill a couple deer with it!! Sure aint going to miss that barnett!

I picked up the invader last year and I have been very happy , haven't had a lick of trouble with it. After trying mine my buddy went out and got him self one but with a scope instead of the red dot. If I had one gripe it's my red dot is too bright in low light , and kind of blocks out the target, but I want to get a hawke or vortex crossbow scope for it anyways.

I don't know how I missed this thread.  10 Point is certainly the top xbow in compounds.  I too have heard nothing but good about the Wicked Ridge line.

String servings do wear out very fast as compared to vertical bows.  I have an extra bowstring on hand and also in Iron Mountain there is a guy that can re-serve them that does a great job with quality materials at Northwoods Outfitters on the corner of US 2 and Pine Mountain rd.

I use Dalton 2000 high speed bow wax and conditioner on my string and serving and then use a rag sprayed with silicon spray to wipe the rail clean, and it seems to work my serving looks like new still, and this is my second season with the invader. The Dalton's wax was what a guy over on crossbow nation (Boo) said to use and he builds aftermarket strings. But your right that the serving wears faster then vert. bows, before the invader and dalton's wax, I used my horton yukon sl with rail lube and the servings wore down quick, and it still does wear more then the invader but not as fast as it did after the switch to dalton's wax.

This is exactly what I wanted to hear.  Now that crossbows are legal in Indiana, I want to get one for next season.

well this crossbow accounted for 4 does this year in my hands, one small buck  in my dads, and my buddy shot one doe with it. My dad said by next year his barnett would be gone. Buddy said if he could afford one his barnett would be gone by next year too.  this thing just flat shoots!! Its easy to use and hasnt given me a lick of trouble. Only possible complaints i have are the cheap redot. the fact that it has to be shot to unload and although its quiter then my barnett was its still a bit noisy but then ive yet to see a quite crossbow.

Not a big fan of barnetts just because they claim all this high speed with arrows lighter then they recommend shooting. I passed on a couple of spikes and doe's ( small bodied deer or would have taken one) so no bow kill for me this year. I am for sure changing out the scope before the next season, I'm going with a Vortex from SWFA, they have them on sale right now because of being Discontinued closeout price [/color][/b]and they have the no questions asked life time warranty.

well i for the vortex crossfire crossbow scope today. Its hands down better then that crap dot scope that came with it. It seems very clear and bright. the ajustments are a little cheap feeling but seem to track well.
