If you can afford it go   breathable waders with  wading shoes.  More stable footwear and you can  walk all around without a loose fitting boot.   Cant tell you what to buy as  im in market for some also and im reading up on the differant brands and thier warrantys which is important.

I have always gone with the boot footed type.Never tried the sock type.
Need a new pair for this season, I will again go with the boot type.I have never gotten the neoprene type--always rubber or canvas.

I've used both type boots but now currently have just the boot type. The stocking foot like RdFx stated are good if you do a lot of walking. They move around less on your feet and make moving around just easier. I used mine trapping creeks with sand bottoms walking accross pastures to get there. The ones I had didn't keep my feet as warm as my boot types but were ok because I was moving. The main reason that I've stayed with the boot type is dealing with the mud here. The boots I laced over my stocking foots picked up a lot of mud. Sometimes when I'd get back to the truck I'd be mud from the knees down. The laces on the boots I used would freeze and I'd have to waste coffee from my thermous to untie my boots, or just get in the truck and let the heater thaw them.
I deal with a lot more mud where I use my boots than sand or gravel.

Mud here , is sometimes waist deep--boots seem to work fairly well.

I bet that boy not only don't need snow shoes. He could probably run on top the water if he got his speed just right. You or I could jump in one of his shoes and paddle it like a canoe. LOL

Havent seen one of Jacks commericials lately.  Which one?  I think last one was a woodsy one  with bear?   I used to live up near Minong which used to be  and maybe still is mostly owned by Link brothers...  I know the Marine business is sold and  they owned everything else too.
