Opinions on browning BLR for deer hunting.

When it comes to the short actions, people who try them are usually spoiled for life. Light, handy, accurate, and fast; what's not to like? I've used one almost 30 years. A couple of others are a little newer. They are the first thing I look for in classifieds and gun shows. Sadly, the long actions are very different and quite subjective.

bought my father a .308 for a retirement pressent He loves it! No problem with shooting 2 inch groups at 100 yards and if i took the time to have the trigger done for him im sure i could get it down to near an inch. Thats the only complaint i have with it the trigger is terrible.

Couple of tips. When benchresting, like most two piece stocks, place the action (not the forearm) on the bags for much more consistantcy. Quick three shot groups are fine, five heat that thin barrel a bit much. Don't be afraid to try different loads, it can make an amazing difference. My 308 hates 3031 and 4895 but loves 4064. Loves 150gr bullets and indifferent with 165's. Pays to check it. BOL
