10" twist is standard for the .243 for use with up through 100 gr bullets.

Every rifle is a law onto its self.  I dont know why some 243 Win ( any cartridge) will shoot one bullet brand and weight with finer accuracy than an other.  I have ben reloading since 1953 . Got my first 243 in the 60s and have ended up with four of them . All have 1-10 inch rifling , used 75 Gr HP bullets for varmints and 100 Gr bullets fo shooting pronghorn and mule deer. The 243 is a fine cartridge  but like all cartridge they have there energy and range limits.

Doesn't the Stevens have a 1/9.25" barrel twist?  I've got 1/10 twist on my 243 and 243AI  been shooting 80/87gr bullets and both will handle the 95gr Nolsers.
