I have some stop loss and a few 330s that need dipping. Need to figure out some transportation for this fall, would be nice to be able to use my boat again.

Tom do you have a big  rat swamp?  If so how about setting up a base camp (tent ect)  to trap hard for a week.  It would save gas.  Go back home after a week , get supplies and a few days hit another swamp an put up another camp.

NOPE! I continue to sit back and read about everyone else's trapping. I like 4 more years to retire, and THEN, out come the traps. It will only be coons, bobcats, and coyotes, cause that's what we have, but I cannot wait until the day, I will be able to do just that.

Lee, camp type trapping adventures are not really a doable thing around here--we have over 4 million peopl in the metro counties and camping where a guy can trap--isn't really an option.
Gone--don't wait till retirement, if you want to trap. I have seen to many guys, retire and die shortly thereafter.
If you really want to do something--don't wait.

Okay Tom, understand, and what you said about retirement is VERY TRUE , fellows passing away right  after retirement....DO IT NOW, trap , trip , MAMA... ;) ....
Also on the boiling and just waxing, been doing that for years now... dont need die... when trap rusts  the brown color is all you need and if your wax is a bit  brown from being dirty that takes care of things as you DONT NEED  ink black traps , in water the brown is better and canine doesnt make a diff.....

got my k9 traps dyed and waxed last week, so thats done.

got 6 bales of peat moss dried and ready to go

got maybe 150 gals of dry dirt stored, will get another 100 or so in next few weeks- a 5 gal bucket at a time.

still need to run over my coyote lines and touch bases, refine, relook at them.

would really LIKE to start season with new tires on truck- we shall see

------------------------

regarding dyeing traps- during the season, I just clean and wax, but I do think that

#1- dye does give some protection to the trap, a second layer if you will under the wax

#2- as long as I'm boiling traps- why not toss in $2 worth of dye, and dye them as well?

#3- newly dyed traps just look so pretty!

I just cleaned, repaired, adjusted, and dipped about 5 dozen today, the season will be on us before you know it.  I am almost through with my water traps then I'll start on my K9 traps.  I'm giving FMJ a try on some of my traps this year, if it works I will be very happy as I hate dealing with traditional waxing.  If not its a vinegar bath for the traps and back to the dye and on to the wax pot., But everyone that I have talked to who actually uses it really likes it so I have high hopes.
