Super 16 Barrels

Has anyone ever come across a list anywhere of all of the different Super 16 calibers offered over the years? I was wondering if they ever offered the Super 16 in 45 Colt only (not 410).

I'll give your question a spin from memory, but I'd have to go dig my files out of storage to be sure I didn't miss any.   
 
The Super 16 came out in the very late 80's for the handguns and to coinside with the new youth model carbines.   They were offered for at least the 22LR, 22MAG, 223 Remy, 7X30 Waters, 30-30 Win, 35 Remy, 44 MAG and 45/70.   About a year later a 16 1/4" vent rib 45/.410 was added, and 3-4 years after that the 22 Hornet Super 16 came along.   I don't remember if others were added later, but I don't believe any of the standard production Super 16's were 45 Colt only.   They could have been special ordered from Fox Ridge though.

I agree with Larry and hopalongs memory. I have several factory Super 16 barrels, they are just a little long for handgun and a little short for carbine config.

Thanks guys, I reload 45 Colt and love the cartridge and was thinking it would be nice to have a carbine barrel. I have a 10" 45 Colt only on my G2 frame and it shoots fantastic so I wouldn't mind having one for a carbine configuration.

I'm only 45 minutes from where Fox Ridge used to be. I used to go in that store all the time and planned on getting a custom barrel at some point then they closed it down :(

The wonder of Contenders is that nearly anything you could want is available.  Fox Ridge is not the only barrel supplier, so if you want something out of the ordinary (like a carbine length 45 colt) check with some of the custom shops and I am sure you can find one.

Eds TC has carbine 45LC's listed under hot new items.  Not sure if he still has any.

I just checked Ed's and didn't see any 45 LC carbines listed. He did have a 38 Special carbine listed that I'd love to have also.

If I can't find one I definitely plan on getting one from one of the custom shops. The nice light weight of the Contender carbines is tough to beat when it comes to carrying it all day hunting.

what is a "super" 16 or 14?  Is there a "Run of the mill" 14 and 16?  What makes it "super"?

Ed, it's just TC's choice of terminology I'd guess, probably to spark sales.   They called their 10" bull a "heavy" barrel, but decided to call the 14" and 16" bulls "supers".
