« on: August 09, 2011, 04:58:50 AM »
Which trap would be better for holding coon?I'll also use the trap on pocket sets later in the season for mink. Can the mink get the #11 out into deeper water to drown? Thanks.Bill
I love the smell of coyote gland lure early in the morning. It smells like victory!!

if you want to target both coon and mink, either will work.

don't give another thought to the question can a mink move a #11- the answer is yes- I regularly use a lot of #2 double long springs on my water line and mink (and rats) have no problem getting to deeper water.

but on using #11s as your go to trap- not my first choice if coon are important to you. I used #11s exclusively in the otter research program, and while I caught a lot of coon, I also had a lot of coon snapped traps due to the smaller jaw spread.

if gearing up for a mixed water line, your best value, IMHO, are Duke 1.5s bothi n fur holding ability, and cost.....trappnman
