Crimson Trace Sights
« on: August 05, 2011, 02:45:35 PM »
I just purchased my first Glock, a modle 30. I was thinking of installing a set of the Crimson Trace laser sights. Anyone have any experiance with them? Are they worth the price?

Love CTC lasers but not for Glocks. What they offer for the Glock is an abomination. There have to be better choices. Now what they offer for Kel-Tecs I really like and can't imagine a better idea for them. My PF9 wears one and I'll likely get one for my P3-AT as well.

I've had one on my 3" S&W 60 with adjustable rear sight for years. I can shoot better groups with the laser than with the factory sights.

Wow, tha's not the answer I expected but thanks for your honesty. How about the laser/ flashlight combinations that mount up to the picatinny rail. I thought they would be good for an in the house defense gun but would be in the way for conceal carry.

I've been thinkin about a laser for my two Glocks. I put TrugloTFO sights on them both and they are the best I have ever seen on ANY pistol. Thanks Bill for the tip on what NOT to buy.

I was just checking out the Glock site and saw the GTL21 light/laser combo. It looks pretty sweet. Actually would be cheaper to purchase this one unit than the crimson trace and a light. Only question I would have is if I zero it in and take it off then put it back on will the zero hold?

How much "zero" do you need in a fighting gun?  I expect it will be close enough.

For a home defense gun I think the laser/light combo on the rail is a great choice. I dunno how well they work in holsters but I think they do make holsters for the more popular pistols like Glocks.

You might feel differently than me on the CTC for Glocks but I'd not own one. I really like them for most every other gun they make them for and really want one for my ARs but man they are expensive.

Someone maybe Laser Max or some such name makes one that gones in below the barrel with the spring. I'm not sure how you sight it in but as someone already said for an up close defensive situation I don't think it matters. I do like the easy adjustment of the CTC lasers.

Yea, I guess that did kind of sound like a stupid question. I have no experiance with these lasers and I guess what I meant is if I carry the gun all day and come home and pop the laser back on again for the night at home that it wont be way off out in left feild somewhere. But after thinking about it and the way they mount it couldn't possibly be off far at all.

I got one for my Gen2 G23, and while it works really good for HD, it sucks for the holster I got for it (Bianchi 19L). I took the CTC sight off not too long ago and have no plans to put it back on (gonna hang on to it, though). HTH

I have a Crimson Trace grip on my G27. It did take some fiddling to zero, but it has stayed there for the last 600 rounds. I like it. I have large hands, so the extra girth does not bother me. What I like about it over the others is that my pistol does not have a rail, I can use the same carry rigs, and it deploys immediately when I grip the gun. Just my 2c.

CTC is now making a laser that goes in front of the trigger guard for Glocks much like what they make for the Kel-Tec guns. To me it's a much better choice than their laser grip for the Glock but then such things are personal in nature and we each have to make those choices for ourselves.

I have the CT setup on the front of my trigger guard on my G27.... It was my first and LOVE IT. Remember with a CT sight, you can be laying down, shooting side ways or standing on your head. All you do is put the RED DOT on target and squeeze the trigger.

I liked is so much, I bought them for my two other CCW handguns a CT trigger guard for my Ruger LCP .380 and a Kimber hand grip CT for my .45 CDP II

I have CT grips on several guns, I have found all to be more accurate and think they provide and edge for self defense.  I like the idea of being able to pull the firearm into my hip and still be able to place the shot on target; it gives me a much better field of view and allows me to concentrate on the target and the red dot while watching whats going on arond me rather than concentrating on the sights on the gun. They are especially good in low light or after dark, I wish CT offered a red/green dot with the option to switch at will to make them more effective in bright sunlight.

The guns I carry most are a Smith model 60, model 649, Kel-Tec PF-9 or a Sig 239, all will put the bullet where I place the red dot.

I am very surprised that the laser companies have not jumped on the green laser band wagon. It's a shame that they are around 300 still and only for indoor and low light use. About 5 years ago I ordered a cheap green laser sight from China off of ebay, waiting for the beemshot to come down in price. It's still up there and I've ordered another 5 or 6 from china without a hitch. They keep on getting brighter and more shooter friendly. Just disappointing to me that a reputable company won't offer a good daylight laser at a reasonable price.

I have no experience with the product. But there is one called lasermax that replaces the guide rod in a lot of pistols.
