44 magnum Handi for deer

Single shot .44 magnum rifles are legal for deer during "primitive" weapons seasons in this state.  So far I've resisted any sort of rifle and just used my bow, but I'm thinking about a single shot.  Since I already have and load for a Marlin 1894SS and a Ruger Super Blackhawk, I'm leaning toward a single shot in the same caliber.  Any opinions out there would be appreciated.  (I asked my buddies about just putting one round in the Marlin and calling that a "single-shot," but they didn't think it would be legal!)

Lots of 44mag threads, there are a couple just down the page.

The levergun doesn't meet the reg requirements for MS, has to be a single shot firearm.

The Handi in .44 mag is a great deer gun.

Mine likes the Hornady LeverEvolution and the WWB 240gr JSP's real well.

Have no fear the 44 handi will put meat in the freezer, I'v only taken 3 so far but droped them all with one shot. Mine shot 240 gold dot and hornady xtp's the best. Keep your shots around 100 yrds. or so.

You have to be careful on what you might propose around here.    It's not so much that we are that dence (well maybe a little so) but that there a lot of inventive and delious minds at work.  What if we just..... ;)

I shot my buck last year with my 44 mag. 240gr. Winchester soft point ammo. One shot through the lungs... he went about 20 feet and fell on his face. The 44 will get the job done no problem.

There's certainly no question about the .44 magnum getting the job done.  The Marlin has already shown that!
