New grips
« on: July 30, 2011, 05:41:54 PM »
Here are the new grips made by Dan Shearer out in Colo.

He made me two fore ends, one for octagon barrels and one for round.  He makes a neat extension for use with a bipod, it is shown it a 22 LR barrel with a Burris scope.  The 12" barrel is a 22 mag.  You can put a bipod directly on the included swivel.

Great work from a nice guy.  Thanks Don.

How does the trigger reach of your new grip compare to the original T/C grip - longer, shorter or about the same?

Very cool grips love the fit and finish.
That bipod extension is too cool. how does it work. can you post close up pic's of it I like the idea of it a lot. does he have a web site or is there a way I can get one of the extensions? I see tons of uses for that. thanks

Here are some more pictures

The captive bolt on the grip is replaced with the one on the extension as is the swivel.  I think that I will replace the fixed swivels with a rotating one.  It is a very nice addition to the fore end and is quite rigid.

Better.  I sent an outline drawing of my hand so it   was fine tuned.

Now that is a beautiful grip set.    And a very interesting idea for a bipod mount.   8)  It appears to be forend profile specific with the bend to match the forends taper though.   I've always achieved the same by simply using 1-2 Harris wedge rubber spacers that can easily be adjusted to fit any forend angle, so they are very versatile.   I wouldn't want the bipod pushed so far forward myself, see no advantage in that.   But it's always nice to see new options to fit your personal tastes and technique.   Looks like he does very nice work and could easily sell it.   Thanks for sharing your pictures and adding another great source to the list.   ;)
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus
