OAL length in a new WBY Mark V, .270 Win
« on: January 03, 2004, 05:56:28 PM »
I picked up a new (2003) Weatherby Mark V Stainless in .270 Win yesterday at Martin Hardware ( our nearest distributor ). We stopped at G Mountain to get dies, brass, etc...as I haven't reloaded for .270 before.

The dealer threw in a box of Federal Classic 130 gr Sierra ProHunter SPs.

Acoording to my Lyman book the OAL max is 3.34

We measured the OAL of the rifle with a Stony Point gauge and it came out 3.197? I measured the unfired Federal bullet to be at 3.203...and when chambered it seemed tight....... I haven't fired it yet.

Any Ideas???

As a Weatherby collector let me say this, Call Weatherby customer service with this question.  You do not want to do anything to possibly void your warrantee.  Lawdog
