1895gunner, welcome to the other side of the Marlin family. Guess alot of us are having problems logging onto MO's today. With the 45-70 loaded with gentle to the shoulder loads, you won't see a large percentage of velocity loss. Many times accuracy will improve due to less barrel "whip" as the bullet travels through. May have to work up a new load, or you may not have to, won't know until you try. As 1895gunner said, some of us like em short and loud.
