Harris bipod on tender barrel?

Just picked up another 'tender, with a .223 hunter barrel (with brake), Pachmyers, a barrel mounted harris bipod and a 4X Leupold scope.  Anybody here tried to use the barrel mount bipod on the tender?  I always seem to get the best accuracy with the front rest as far back on the forearm as possible so I am assuming I will not be happy with this bipod setup.  Any experience with accuracy with a bipod?

Yeah, I bought a couple of them many years ago, and couldn't get them back off and relegated to the parts box fast enough.   They mess up barrel harmonics too much for me, will string shots and negated my "free floated" barrels.   So I doubt you will be happy with that set up.
 
I used only Harris bipods on my 'Tenders for a very long time, didn't use bags anymore or mechanical rests, and they always got mounted with a stud in the forends whether pistol or carbine.   Since I mounted all my forends with custom hanger bars, the stud could be anywhere in the forend that worked best for the intended use.    But back when I did shoot off a bag or mechanical rest I too always supported just in front of the trigger guard, something that has been well known for them for decades.

  Pat close attention to what Ladobe has to say. When i first got into Tenders years ago he gave me some great info on shooting the darn things. Believe me he knows what he is talking about.

you confirmed what I suspected = think I will just forgo wasting ammo testing...Rip it off and sell it for scrap.

My first contender, I bought used came with a Bipod.  Fun shooting off the bench but I found I did not like the Bipod while hunting.  I use a shoulder holster and hunt from tree stands.  I use the bipod to get everything sighted in then take it off.  I carry a short collapsable shooting stick to use in the field.  It fits in my pocket and gives me all the steadiness I need for those long 25 yard shots out the tree stand. ;) ;) .

My .223 Super 16 shoots various loads in the 1 inch range off my Harris Bi-pod. When I got the gun in 91, I attached a sling swivel up front off the forend mounting screw. I use a Harris shorty on mine, great at the bench, over the hood of the truck or prone. I never free floated the barrel. All I do is shoot it and not worry to much about it because it shoots better than I can. :)
