Congrats and welcome to the forum!
With the handloads it can be mild to wild and anything in between. All depends on recoil tolerance and what you want to do with the 45-70. I would suggest buying a box of Rem 405 SPs and a box of the Hornady 325 grainers or the Federal 300 grainers and try these. See what you and your gun like and then you might have a starting point for your handload development. Both the Rem 405s and the Hornady 325s are offered as reload components if you like them.
