Yep, they already forgot why they were voted out some years back, and forgot the terms on why they were just voted into the house. Not too smart are they? Bottom line is, they are lying about needing to raise the ceiling, they are full of it, they just don't want to cut their massive spending. They raised it up around a year ago, we got nothing but more spending, private sector shrunk, unemployment went up, and government GREW.  Why would we do this again?  Cause it worked so well? It works the same way in your home if someone has a spending problem, it never works.  After our country shows it's lack of basic morals by raising the ceiling, what if the other countries decided to not buy our bonds or debt anymore? 
If we freeze the debt ceiling it does not mean we automatically will default, it might mean we stop a bunch of spending, fire government agencies and bureaucrats, stop giving welfare to illegal aliens and hundreds of things like that.  Government defaulting and shrinking is a lot different that the United States defaulting (all of us)...they still collect taxes other income. They simply can not borrow. They would be forced to shut unessential parts of the government down.  THEY fail, not us.  Over 2 trillion in taxes are still going in there ever year, they are spending 1.6 trillion over that...basically when government is forced to shrink and go away, there is PLENTY of money to pay down the debt.
Republicans also have the same sickness the democraps do, a spending sickness with our 2 trillion per year flowing in there, they have created an entire corrupt business using our money. I see the government flopping and dying if we freeze the ceiling....not any of us. As soon as people realize their lives will go on when a chunk of government dies we will all be better off.  We need to force them to stop spending, we've been waiting 50 years for them to agree to it. 
Republicans won't help us, democrats only create messes like this, it's up to the rest of us to fight them, write to your representatives and tell them if they raise the ceiling you vote them out of office. Make a little noise. If they do the same thing they always do and raise it, we are in deep trouble.  I'm starting to think this president is trying to put us in the ground on purpose, and is not the fault of his lack of knowledge and experience and moral charactor.  And yes...the republicans will help sink the ship...it will just sink slower.

The problem is that we are so far in the toilet and the politicians know it.  If the debt ceiling is not raised, the government can't borrow any more money.  The present revenue to the federal government amounts to about enough to pay the interest on the debt, some entitlements (Social Security, Medicare etc. and D.O.D) and nothing else.  That leaves a huge part of what government does, with no way to pay for it.
At this point, anything that comes from any politician is merely a manifestation of desperation.

I too agree, Social Security, Medicare, and the DOD is all that is absolutely necessary.  States can handle welfare like they did before Johnsons "Great Society".  Highways might suffer, but only for a while, until they can figure things out.  States also handled their own education systems before 1960.  Air traffic control might suffer.  Everything else should be state financed.  Congress can pass a bill saying what is to be funded like SS, Medicare, and DOD first.

In no way do I believe that there aren't cuts that could easily be made--if it weren't for the dumycrats.  Border security could be given to the D.O.D.; we could easily do without the Dept. of Education, E.P.A., O.S.H.A., F.H.A., A.T.F., Agriculture, Energy, Interior, B.P.A., T.V.A., F.D.A., and on and on, but you know that is never going to happen.

You will ever get the hard core socialist Dem's to admit to anything, or try a different method than spend more than you have and then steal from the "wealthy".. taxes that get passed down to me, my employer goes under or moves (he's the "wealthy") and wind up with nothing but larger government and government employees, and smaller private sector.   The Dem's have watched themselves get all the power and all of congress, and the white house, they wrote it, signed it, passed it...and things kept getting worse and worse, and those people will do the exact same thing year after year anyways.  Raise the ceiling, say they will cut spending over the next decade (but not now)...and borrow what they don't have and can never get.  They are fools.  Only way to stop them is to use force and cut off the money.  Now we have the President of the United States of America threatening to stop social security if he does not get his way.  What an immature non professional political dolt he turned out to be.

   Those things could all be cancelled and all the 32 new "czars" could be fired, no more millions to the ACLU, take back the millions recently given to ACORN, dump the National Endowment for the Arts, cut of the planned parenthood butchers and many other things..long before they should threaten SS, the troops or medicare.  If some day they had to be cut , OK.. but "don't pee on my leg and try to tell me it's raining".  Anyone who proposes that idea is no smarter than the long term unemployed guy who continues his bar visits, eating out, Cable TV, fancy clothes, baseball/football/hockey tickets. lottery tickets by the reams, the casino etc, etc....but cannot seem to nmake his mortgage, electric, gas or car car payment.

I absolutely disagree that John McCain is the same as obama.  McCain is a long way from being a staunch conservative, but to equate him with the ignorant fool in the White House is a cop-out. 
 
Assuming that the vote count in the last presidential election were more, or less correct, then what is happening to this country can and should be the responsibility of those who voted for obama, not McCain.  I'm not a McCain supporter; I'm just tired of people saying that there is enough blame to go around.  The country was in bad shape financially before obama came along.  Obama and the dumycrats took a bad condition and made it terminal.  It's time to terminate them.

 I don't believe RP can save us. I believe there's only ONE that can save us, and his office is much, much higher than a Ron Paul. I don't think Ron Paul is the Messiah,but I do think with more like him in office we would see a gradual change in this country for the better. We didn't get to this level because of the current criminal's in charge. It started long before them by people just like them, and this bunch is just being true to form.

Some want to blame all the woe's on the Democrats, and others want to put the blame on the Republicans. Pretty obvious to some of us........They are both to blame, and we are guilty of letting them, by voting them in office over and over again.

McCain would have destroyed the country a little slower than Obama, but not much. The difference is too small to be notable. Either way the American people lost, foreign banks and corporations won.
