Chamber Adapter/Inserts

I have a 20g that I would like to make a little more versatile "truck gun."  Has anybody ever tried using a 22cal or 357 chamber insert before?  I am interested in trying these out, I realize that I will have to look at improving the sighting system on the shotgun.  I happen to have a set of sights off of a couple of rifles I no longer own laying around the house. Any feedback or ideas are appreciated.

06, I got one of the 357 adapters for a 12 guage. Fit good, ejected good, 357 round fit good. The only issue is the 357 round
is shot out of the adapter into a barrel about 4 times as big. So the result is that there is very little to guide the bullet. It is a 25-30 foot round, and will give you a 3-5 inch group.
I also tried a 20 guage adapter in the 12 guage, very good pattern. A 410 guage adapter in the 20 g adapter worked well also, but these are shot shells so exact hits are not an issue.

What you probably really want is an 'insert barrel', a short length of rifled barrel, properly chambered. Some inserts are very accurate, evidence the Crosno 22LR liner in the 45-70 which some of my friends use to good effect at 200yds. or more in match shooting.

Thanks a lot for the replies! That helps a lot.  Do you happen to have any good ideas as far as mounting usable sights to the shotgun barrel?  I am not looking for match accuracy, just minute-of-rabbit.

The H&R Tracker slug guns have open sights similiar to what H&R puts on their 45-70 barrels.  They are D/T but are not drilled in the chamber swell area.  One member has used a peep sight on his shotguns that is mounted on the back of the chamber swell but I believe they are silver soldered.  You might get away with installing a peep sight with epoxy if you do a good surface prep of the barrel & sight.   IMO, unless you get a barrel insert like gcrank1 suggested you probably don't need sights as your accuracy will be very poor.
