Colors are thin, but mine are still holding.......I wipe down after any handling with everything from simple 'Ed's Red, to Balistol, to WD-40. etc.
Lockup with a case in is more important than without, accuracy is the ultimate arbiter.
The crescent buttplate isnt supposed to be on your shoulder, but between the shoulder and bicep muscles with the arm pretty well out, though not all of us can do it so. I put TDC wood on my 38-55TM and UH lams on the SS-UH with scope and the change in recoil impulse was noticeable (to the good).
