factory loads for bar
« on: June 17, 2011, 07:51:00 PM »
I'm still learning this stuff. I under stand I'm to use factory ammo in my bar 30-06. I don't reload any way. I'm looking to go for elk. What brand and grain works best, and what should i stay away from. I picked up 1 box of federal 180g to get it on the paper near center. Winchester180g power points to go for the gold and adjust the boss. Will this work? Or is there some thing better to use? My browning ballistics chart only shows these boss settings. Bob

30-06 Springfield    220    Winchester    7

I would go with the round that held the tightest group.  Tthe guys I have hunted with have killed many a elk with 140 gr. bullets in a 270 I would say all of these would work fine.

I'd go with a quality 180 grn bullet for your 30-06, one that shoots well.
