need some help
« on: June 14, 2011, 02:43:01 PM »
my dad has a 760 in 06-got great deal on it-the stock is in pretty bad shape...anyway we bear hunt in some pretty nasty cover and were looking to put a synthetic pistol grip stock on it..heres the rub-stock is from ati but doesnt come with a fore end, cant seem to find a black synthetic fore end without buying rear stock as well.  We were kind of thinking a youth forend might work nice with a little smaller profile, but any ideas would be appreciated. I checked all the major sites and didnt come up with anything.By the way, weve been using 760s for years and have about a dozen of them between us and have never modified one this drastically!! Dad slipped last year and buggered up his 35 whelen pretty good and this is what brought on the idea of "fall proofing" one for bear season...Thanks for any help

Personal opinion is a good thing, and everyone is entitled to one.  The hard part is separating informed opinion from someone who is just blowing hot air....

thanks..saw that one but the stock he wants is pistol grip from ati. I looked again today and i think he might as well go with something like that.

Numrich Gun Parts in West Hurley Ny may have just a fore end for you. Natchez, or MidSouth, or possibly Brownells also. Good luck sir! Oh yea, check local shops/shows yet?

Snake Eyes:  with the information you have from theother posters you may wish to call remington directly and see what they either have or say about finding what you need.  I believe they use synthetic stocks on some of their rifles and shotguns but do not know which model stocks may or may not interchange.  I have often found the manufacturer to be helpful.  HTH.
