2nd G-Hog down

This one came as a fluke.  I was out with the 22 mag trying to get some ground squirrels when this male popped up at 142yds (lasered). I looked for a concealed avenue of approach to close the distance but there was none. I have the 22 mag doped out to 150yds so I let one fly.  He went right down. He was rolling around and I put one more in him for good measure.  The lights were turned out on that one. I really dont advocate shooting a GHog at that distance with a 22 mag but, I was quite surprised at how well it dispatched it.

Further inspection showed that the first round hit where I held at and it would have killed it. weapon was a Marlin 925M and was shooting CCI 40gr JHPs.....

i havent had the pleasure yet this year.i think i may have killed so many of the dumb ones around here that ive inadvertently bred a super race of ground hogs that are smarter than me!

Don`t underestimate the 22 mag. That was my first long range groundhog gun many years ago. I always figured that if I could hit them with it I could kill them, and that is pretty much how it is. Keep up the good work.

I couldnt tell ya ron.  I looked at both of them and couldnt see a difference myself.  Does your have the micro grooved barrel?

swift one  yes it is the micro groove   very accurate
