Update on my Rem 7400
« on: May 17, 2011, 02:30:05 PM »
As you know I just picked this up a month or so ago. Been working on it to get it shooting decent groups.  I'm now most satisfied with the results.  I took a gun shooting 4-5" groups down to a  1-2" grouping gun!  Not only with jacketed bullets but also cast bullets.   Below are the targets I shot today with the new Weaver scope and my new glasses-dam old eyes! ::)

Next is to get out a shoot some 200 yard targets and beyond!

I presume you know those Rem 170 are not designed for 30-06 velocities............Right?

Most .30-06s really like the 180 grain Core-Lokt bullet.

scatterbrain

What? :o  I've seen nothing that says the Rem 7400 can't handle any Factory 30-06!!  And none of my reloads are more pressure then Factory rounds!!  I never ran any supper hot loads in any of my '06s as I've always found the best accuracy is usually 1gr or so from max with just about every bullet I've tried! ::)

454Puma,

Scatterbrain is correct the Remington 170 grain bullets are designed for 30-30 velocities, they will most likely function like varmint bullets at 30-06 velocities.

No one is questioning your loads as to hot or not, just your choice of bullets.  And yes you need to be a above average reloader to reload for the automatics.
