None. They are too far away to be able to afford the gas to get there.

With gas prices the way they are going up, dealers are going to have to charge more.... profit margins for dealers are minimal now and they cant afford to absorb high gas prices for traveling to and from rendezvous.   Also pulling heavy loaded trapping supplies  vehicles do  use more fuel.

Im hearing same thing ( about gas prices and traveling to rendezvous) from friends and dealers in other states and my own state.   The comarady among dealers and customers from year to year  is worth going but on the big dealers this is thier lively hood and with reduced attendance things  will be tight.

Everyone better get used to high gas prices, I doubt they will head in the other direction.
My question now is, are you going to quit hunting, fishing and trapping --because of gas prices?

No WE arent going to quit hunting, fishing, trapping.  One will have to possibly change how he does what he wants and where.  With supplies you better figure on higher prices especially anything that has any shipping weight to it even if supplier brings it  to rendezvous as he  pays more in shipping and he pays more to bring it to event in gas.

Tom,

I'm blessed. I live close to several bodies of water that I can hunt, fish, & trap on. Oh yeah and by the way... There is no way to get use to these high prices!!! LOL

dealer prices, as any supply dealer knows, are far from what "normal" retail markup is. And in many cases, supplies are being sold at or below costs- just to move inventory. Its common, to see supplies for sale at LESS than I can get them wholesale, let alone a markup

I've cut my conventions way back, simply becasue I can make more money not going, than going.

and gas prices, are going to have an even bigger inpact this year is my guess on both number of dealers, and numbers of attendees. Both are going to, overall, attend their own convention, and few others.

Even with the current gas price and our Governor leaving me with many finacial uncertainties. I plan to attend our district roundy in June, NTA in August and state convention in Sept. The two events here in the state are close enough I'll ride my bike if I have to. I might be old but I can still bike the 30 miles to the June roudy. Might not be able to walk once I get there. Bbut it would be start to training to do the 100 miles to state convention in Sept:-)

Mac, i didnt know you were a gear head!   The trick is to spin those cranks not push them....its so muddy now with mountain biking that you think you are on a bog as the ground rolls ahead of your front tire.

I sold my motor cycles years ago and even though I think about it I haven't replaced them. I don't ride my old $50.00 Huffy mountian bike very often either, but I still can if i need to. It's just like riding a bike LOL!
I still have my old Schwinn Varsity 10 speed hanging in the rafters in the garage. Bought it brand new back in 1979 I believe it was and can't bring myself to get rid of it? It's still very much rideable if I replace the rotten tires. I put new tires on the bike only once since I owned it and that was probably 20 years ago now. I guessing two new modern tires for the schwinn would cost less than a tank of gas for the car. There was one fall years back when  it was wet and there was lots of corn up. I started getting the old Huffy ready for the trap line, was going to ride down the edges of the fields I couldn't drive. Then things turned around and I ended up not needing it. If you want to see the full potential of bikes use. Take a look at the asian countries.

Your right on the asian bike use.  The bicycle is the most used vehicle in the world.  In Nam the viet cong  transported huge amounts of supplies and weapons on bikes. Alot of times they pushed them and when delivered rode back to north.  If you would see the weight that they put on those bikes you would think the tires would blow out and even if not to push them thru mud and up hills.  Strong weiry  people.
